Elato wins Woolworths Metro's Supplier of the Year Award

Roz Kaldor-Aroni with Elato's Award for Woolworths Metro Supplier of the Year 2022

Elato recently won the inaugural Metro “Supplier of the Year” Award for 2022 at the Woolworths annual supplier awards.

“Metro created this award to recognise the hard work and effort that we consistently see from new FMCG brands that we list and incubate. They collaborate closely with us to accommodate Metro’s requirements including supporting our marketing campaigns and making contributions to achieving a cleaner planet” said Tim Laufer, Head of Commercial for Woolworths Metro.

“In Elato’s case, not only did they work closely and collaboratively with Metro but they supported four different marketing campaigns, with funds, products and services. They also created a cinema campaign that featured Metro plus they are a social enterprise that gives back half its profits to OzHarvest,” he said.

Brands like Elato are leading the charge of using business as a force for good, because creating an ice cream brand that can contribute to helping the planet is the reason that Elato was established. To date this mission has equated to gifting over 6,200 meals to OzHarvest as well as using flavour suppliers that are also committed to social impact.

Founder and CEO of Elato, Roz Kaldor-Aroni, said “It’s a great honour and privilege to be the first recipient of this award – especially because it’s my first time taking an FMCG product to market. I have been greatly assisted in this task by Andrew Nichols and his team from Category Management at Metro who have taught me a great deal about selling products to Woolworths” she said.

Elato has made big strides since launching in November last year, being stocked in over 80 Metro stores and almost 300 independent stores as well as winning numerous other food awards including the inaugural Naturally Good “Best Socially Conscious Brand” and “Best Ice Cream” from the Queensland Dairy Industry Association with its Cold Brew Decaf Coffee ice cream flavour.

“These awards validate that Elato is on the right path by focussing on great taste and texture with our ice cream as well as offering a range of ‘better for your features plus giving back to the community” said Mrs Kaldor-Aroni.

2023 promises to be even bigger for Elato, with at least three new products being planned for release, starting with dixie cups which are already being sold in cinemas in Victoria and NSW.
